TAM 2015 needs your help! We are seeking a number of volunteers to help support the event, whether with speaker support, registration, event management, PR, merchandizing, outreach, tabling, or other opportunities. By volunteering, you help keep the price of TAM down for everyone.
As a small nonprofit organization, the JREF greatly appreciates the generous support of its many volunteers. Unfortunately, we cannot fund any part of your travel, lodging, or conference registration. Volunteers will receive special “TAM 2015 Volunteer” t-shirts, as well as being invited to a private volunteer appreciation luncheon.
Thank you for helping make TAM 2015 a success, and for supporting the JREF’s important work!
CALL FOR PAPERS
Following our now 13 year tradition, The James Randi Educational Foundation will once again invite proposals for short (15 minute) presentations on Sunday, July 19, 2015 during The Amazing Meeting 2015.
The Sunday Morning Papers session of TAM was established to recognize new voices and ideas and to shine on them the spotlight of the TAM community. If you have had success in communicating scientific skepticism, teaching critical thinking, combating pseudoscience, or furthering the mission of the JREF in some new and significant way, we want to hear from you!
Anyone may submit a request to present a paper. If your proposal is accepted you will be allotted 10 to 15 minutes for your presentation and an additional 5 minutes for questions and comments from the audience. Invitations to present will be giving to approximately six proposals. Please see the process of selection schedule below for further details.
Selection process schedule:
- Deadline for proposal submission: May 15, 2015
- Initial selection completed, request for further documentation: May 29, 2015
- Deadline for written article and draft presentation: June 5, 2015
- Final selection completed, invitations sent out: June 12, 2015
If your proposal makes it through the initial selection, we will request from you a written paper and a draft of your power point slides (if any). The submitted paper should be at the level of a magazine article (like that of Skeptic Magazine or Skeptical Inquirer) or a journal article appropriate for your professional discipline.
Note: The deadline for paper submissions has now passed.
