What are the registration rates and deadlines?

The following early registration and package rates apply until April 30, 2014:

Registration and package rates will increase by $50 after April 30. Registration will close on June 30, 2014 or earlier if sold out.

What is included in the registration fee?

Basic Registration includes admission to all four days of TAM, including the catered opening reception on Thursday evening (July 10); main stage conference sessions on Friday (July 11), Saturday (July 12), and Sunday (July 13); and the live Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge event Sunday evening. Basic Registration also includes a conference t-shirt and souvenir program; conference meal tickets for a continental breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; conference meal tickets for a buffet lunch on Friday and Saturday; and coffee breaks during the conference. The new “Budget Registration” option does not include the conference meal tickets. Single day passes are also available.

Accommodation costs are not included in the conference registration. Attendees are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements.

When are the meals that are included with Basic Registration fee?

Continental breakfast is provided Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:30-9:00 am in the conference center. A buffet lunch is also provided on Friday and Saturday from 12:45-2:00 pm, and you will be required to use the meal tickets for each meal that are provided to you during on-site registration. Note that meals are not included in the TAM 2014 budget registration option, but that you can purchase separate meal tickets from the registration desk.

What events are not covered in the registration fee?

During the four days of TAM 2014, there are a number of separately ticketed events that supplement the main programming of the conference. These include the ten skeptic workshops, the ticketed evening shows, screenings, concerts and parties. Additionally, The Skeptics’ Poker Tournament, the two exclusive VIP fundraising luncheons with Randi and friends, and the fundraising dinner featuring the Skeptics Guide to the Universe, each have an additional ticketing fee.

What is included with the package options?

In order to simplify the registration process we now offer several package options that include both Basic Registration and various ticket configurations.

  • The Standard Package Deal includes Basic Registration and the All Workshop Pass and saves $50 over separate pricing.
  • The Entertainment Package includes everything in the Standard Package plus tickets to An Honest Liar movie screening (earliest available showtime assigned on first-come basis), Paul Provenza’s Satiristas comedy show, and the acclaimed Dark Tales magic and spiritualism show, and saves $75 over over separate pricing.
  • The TAM Experience includes everything in the other packages plus upgraded VIP registration, expedited conference check-in, special reserved seating (front and center classroom-style tables), and admission to the special benefit dinner. A portion of this package is treated as a tax-deductible charitable contribution to The James Randi Educational Foundation.

Do JREF members get a discounted registration?

Do students get a discounted registration?

Yes, the student discount for TAM 2014 is $100 off registration rates. In order to receive the student discount we require a current student ID or proof of current enrollment. You can send this information to for approval.

Are there any grant programs to help people attend?

Yes. Large conferences like TAM are very expensive to produce, and as a result, registration fees may be unaffordable for some people, especially for students or for those with more limited incomes. Even though the JREF offers a number of discounted registration options this year, making this TAM more affordable than ever, registration may still be out of reach for some.

It is our desire that everyone who wants to come to TAM to have the opportunity to attend, even if they have limited means. As such, the JREF works with several generous supporters each year to help organize various grant programs that cover registration costs for many dozens of people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend. We’ve heard from countless people what a life changing experience attending TAM can be, and so we work to give that opportunity to as many people as possible.

Where do I go to pick up my badge?

Badges and other conference materials may be picked up from the TAM 2014 Registration Desk beginning at 1PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2014.

Please ask at one of the information desks in the South Point lobby for directions to the Conference Center where TAM 2014 Registration Desk will be located. A TAM 2014 welcome table will be also located at the bottom of the conference center’s entrance escalators to help direct you.

Once I get to TAM, what can I expect?

To maximize the value of your TAM registration, we try to keep the schedule as packed with educational and entertaining content as possible. We have nearly non-stop programing scheduled from 8AM until after midnight for the four days of TAM 2014, and we encourage you to see as much as you can. A detailed printed schedule will be available at the registration desk.

What is your advice for making the most of the event?

We encourage you to introduce yourself to as many of the outstanding guests and speakers and fellow attendees as you can. If you are new to TAM, be sure to visit the TAM Forum table to get a “1st TAMmer” sticker, and look for people wearing “TAMbassador” buttons, who will do their best to show you around and help you get the most out of the conference.

Are there any gathering spots outside of the conference area?

The South Point’s Del Mar Lounge is a popular hangout and meeting spot for many of the hundreds of like-minded TAM attendees. This area of the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa is not part of the TAM 2014 conference area, and participation in events or gatherings at the Del Mar or other parts of the hotel are separate from TAM 2014 programming.

What is the best way to get updates at the conference?

Daily email updates will be sent to attendees during TAM 2014. We also suggest following @JREF on Twitter for official updates, or that you listen to announcements from the main stage.

How does JREF handle safety concerns?

The Amazing Meeting, while a private event, is held at the South Point Hotel Casino and Spa, which is open to the public. The safety of our attendees and speakers is a priority and we engage professional consultants with decades of experience on-site to assist us in dealing with any matters should they arise at the event. If you encounter a problem within the conference area, please immediately report the situation to TAM staff or hotel security. In the event that hotel or JREF event staff are not immediately nearby, please ask one of our many TAM volunteers for assistance. TAM volunteers have been trained in how to assist you, and can be identified by the word “volunteer” on the back of their conference t-shirt, or by their “TAMbassador” buttons.

Can I volunteer for the JREF at TAM?

Are there accommodations for special needs at TAM?

Is TAM an all-ages conference?

While TAM is generally family friendly, not all content may be suitable for children, and parental discretion is advised. Registration is required for children 13 and up. Children 12 and under are not permitted in conference sessions.

Will there be child care at the conference?

Yes, child care is a free service for TAM attendees who register in advance for the service. The child care will be provided by bonded and insured child care providers from the Las Vegas area. The child care will be located in the conference area of the South Point Hotel & Casino, in a room near where conference sessions will take place. Toys, games, activities, and movies will be available for the children. Food will NOT be provided. Parents are responsible for meals (we will have some snacks available – parents must alert us to any allergy or food issues).

One parent/guardian must be registered for the conference. One parent or legal guardian must be on the hotel property at all times while the child is in child care.

Child care will be available July 10-13, 2014. Drop offs will begin at 8:00am each day. Children must be picked up by 6:00 PM each day.

Is there time available to explore what Las Vegas has to offer outside the conference area?

To maximize the value of a TAM registration, we try to keep the schedule as packed with education and entertainment as possible throughout the duration of the conference. However, some attendees enjoy excursions to restaurants, casinos, and shows in and around the Las Vegas area during their stay. Those who don’t want to miss anything TAM 2014 has to offer might be interested in scheduling some exploring time before or after the conference.

Yes, wifi is made available by the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa for a fee.

Is there a business center onsite?

Yes, the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa does provide a full-featured business center on the ground floor near the escalators that lead to the TAM 2014 conference space.

Are there any overflow hotels?

TAM does not provide a list of official overflow hotels, though there are several affordable nearby hotels that may be able to accommodate TAM attendees, including the Grandview at Las Vegas, at 702-966-4700.


Will DVDs of the conference be made available for sale after TAM 2014 is over?

JREF publishes videos of talks and panels at TAM 2014 online through its websites, YouTube channel, and social networks after the event. There are currently no plans to produce DVD sets of the event, but we may produce them in the future if there is enough public interest.
